Gorge-ous Trail Day

I spent the morning into early afternoon with some lovely ladies exploring parts of Tallulah Gorge State Park. Tallulah Gorge is in Tallulah Falls, Georgia in Rabun County. It's an easy hour and fifteen minute trek up 441 from Athens or about an hour and a half from northeast Atlanta. Since I live in Carnesville, it's even faster for me (about forty-five minutes) via a few smaller country roads meeting 441 for the end of the drive.

As an ambassador for Women Who Explore, I organize and host about one event per month, typically a hike or other outdoor activity. Women Who Explore has led me to so many friends as well as become closer to a few I already knew! Who knew there was a group of ladies that are so similar to me in their love of travel, the outdoors, and just exploring the amazing world we live in?! I definitely didn't. I wish I could even tell you how I found WWE, but I can't quite remember. Let's be honest, it was probably somehow on Instagram (haha!).

Our group met at Tallulah Gorge State Park at 10am. There is a $5 parking fee for GA state parks (I have a state park pass - amazing investment!) that you pay upon entry or inside if you don't have exact change and depending on the park. We decided on an easier hike and one that was pup-friendly, so we did the North & South Rim Trails. There was the threat of rain and a few wavering sprinkles, but I'm so glad the major showers did not change our plans!

Our new Athens WWE mascot is Harper, an adorable Goldendoodle with a perfect sense of adventure to match our group! She was a blast to have with us, and definitely provided extra entertainment at times. I highly recommend exploring Tallulah Gorge in all seasons - it is especially gorgeous in the fall as the leaves change, you can take a swim in the water in the summer, and in the winter you have a different perspective with the trees lacking most of their leaves. As usual, T-Rex came out for a photo op in yet another new place!

Stay adventurous, my friends
